I don't know why, but the server IP changed.
We didn't move, it's the same server.
This probably has something to do with Prulez's request to have his old IP for this server.
To extrapolate; he used to have a server.
Then we merged so we together with him could rent a better one.
He requested to take with him the IP of his old server.
Server company said "sure".
This was back when we moved, and both IPs have worked for me up till now.
But on GSA I saw they were hosted on the new IP (short after the merge).
That's why I posted in my previous news item the IP and port it showed on GSA.
But today the servers crashed and were inaccessible for some time.
Then, I could still not get in when it was corrected.
I check GSA: and saw we are on Prulez's old IP now.
Long story short: Direct Connect users (renip, renconnect, etc) need to change their info.
The move of the servers is complete.
Immediately we have had a player boost!
The servers are now hosted much much higher in the WOL list.
And in GameSpy we are even in the very top!

There is some sad news, but also good news about the Coop server.
Reaver and I tried our very best to get the old brenbot to work, but we were unable.
Basically the best chance we had was to install a fresh brenbot on this new server, then try and merge its database with the old.
This has failed. The brenbot would not startup when we did this.
In the end, that means all the old ranks are gone.
But we do have a working brenbot, that works perfectly, cause now ALL commands work now,
!donate, !kill, etc.
The new Coop mod is also much more stable.
This is because the Characters are no longer all Havocs in this mod.
It was a great feature, but I think Zunnie realized it made the mod crash very often.
Also, there are a few new maps/improvements to maps on this one.
And of course a working JukeBox playing music randomly, so not 1 track per map!
And a few new commands like !seen which will display when someone last visited the server.
Also some commands are there for the Jukebox like !music on/off, etc.
Mission DM and Nitro have moved too.

The Forums will stay unchanged until Wednesday.
After that, I hope to see you on Exodus, were the Renz0r Community will continue together with the guys at Exodus.
Al but a few have registered on the Exodus forums, and I have seen a lot of you in TS as well.
I want to give you all a quick heads up on the whole move.
These now redirect to the Exodus TS which is in full use already by them and us.
There is a channel called Renz0r Lobby, with subchannels for both the clans.
The channels are passworded with the password renz0rbewbs
Again, if you haven't joined there as of yet, and can't login getting prompted your login details are wrong, please make sure to login as anonymous first.
Join then, click on the self tab and register again.
This is a fresh new TS so you aren't in the database yet.
About the IRC.

These now redirect to the Exodus IRC, which is massive.
But don't worry, I made us some channels.
The old channels like you always knew them, which are:

#Nitro-Admin (no password)
As you can see the admin channels are no longer passworded as the reason for that is now behind us.
Also there are a large number of IRC operators and IRC network administrators (of which I am one too) online there.
So a lot of guardians are looking out for our network now.
But next to your known channels, there is 1 channel which you can now add:
#Exodus
This is the channel of our new AOW server.
IP and port of this all to follow.
The servers are being worked hard on to move.
We are updating Coop to 3.0 beta, but we find it a little hard to get it working properly.
We're going to try and install a new bot and see if that works.
If it does, we'll try to merge the databases of our old Coop bot.
This might not be successful, but do trust we will try our best to get it to work.
For now, our bots rest on the old IRC, waiting for the move next week.
If you absolutely must be there, for example to !auth yourself or to moderate, please use the old raw IP to connect.

Next week the bots will be in the same channels as they are now, but then on the new IRC.
After the move, I will work on the renz0r skin for their forum, and an alternative skin to boost up the current looks.
They've had some negative feedback from the people with grudges.
Let's see if we can put a nice coating on that forum to shut them up

Exactly what is going to happen with TS, IRC and gaming servers ?
Exodus has a TeamSpeak and an IRC network.
Our TS and IRC will be implemented into theirs, meaning:
If you join ts.renz0r.net or irc.renz0r.net you will join Exodus TS or IRC.
The TS is fully set already by me and Filak, and even has a channel for us renz0r guys if we want to hang out with just our guys.
There is clanchannels and channels for our servers too.
Their IRC will have the same channels as we had on our IRC.
So #Mission-DM #DM-Admin etc etc, all will be there.
I, reaver and Golster have SA on TS there as we had here.
On their IRC I am an operator (invisible highest form of power).
So that also remains the same as on renz0r.
Our admin channels will be without password, as this is how they do it over there.
Just a note about that: this was to counter Mandai, and we no longer see him.
Hope that clears it up. Feel free to ask if anything is unclear.

Is Renz0r staying online but as an Archive and viewable and what is staying here and what are you taking over to exodus ?
There are a few possibilities about this, but some are complicated.
To not screw up anything and not screw over people, I think it is best to not do anything yet that can't be undone easily.
The plan now:
Clan forums Stay!
News Bulletin Stays!
Server info section Stays!
Staff forum Stays! (yes invisible to you, but I need it for some control panels)
Other sections will be closed for posting, but still viewable.
What are the other options?
It is possible to merge the entire renz0r SQL database with Exodus.
This means that we move our posts, our postcounts everything, to that forum.
How ever, I rather see this site as unique and keep it unique.
Also, I can move someone's posts, but I can't move someone's will to have posted on renz0r.
I don't want to take that big a decision, it wouldn't be fair to some.
Also, there are posts here that should stay here.
But this option is still something that is theoretically possible.
Another option is to move clan forums and have them on Exodus.
But this would require us to settle with a different forum looks, or making another skin to resemble what we had (it is possible though!)
This is undecided. We want to see how it goes with the top option.
Let us first see how well we can adapt.

End of this month the forum sections that will discontinue will be locked.

All Clan forum sections ie; -DM- and [MC]-clans what is going to happen with them ?
They stay where they are, and can stay there for ever.
I have no need to bring that to Exodus, unless the clan leaders feel different about it.
I fully trust Exodus admins, but do need to say: here the privacy of the clans is more guaranteed.
Not saying it is not on Exodus, just saying I will be the only one to hamper your privacy here, and I trust myself, hope you do too.

Exodus uses WOL only, when the servers move will they still be on GSA too or just WOL ?(hopefully to get popularity, on both)
This is not up to me, but I am an admin now together with Reaver.
If there is a strong wish for this, I will certainly throw it in the group there.

I need to show them it isn't just 2 or 3 people that use GSA.
If we on Exodus decide we don't do it (it's very democratic, which appeals to me) I can create something for you that makes it easy for you to connect.
Maybe an IRC script or a special Exodus connect tool, with all servers listed in them.

What's happening to current stats of moderators, admins and staff?
I was allowed to select a few people to move over without any hassle.
Reaver and I will become administrators.
Filak did not want this responsibility because he also runs Borgamers.
But Filak will be a familiar face there, and help out sometimes when we are faced with a problem only he can solve.
Eightball has only recently come back to us, and when he did most was handshaked on.
Administrators are mandated to have some form of skill in scripting/modding (modifying).
Next to this, I am unsure if our friend 8bewb will continue to be active.
I hope he will. Arny (the reckneya of Exodus) has inquired about him though, and depending on him being active, he would be able to get moderator status.
I was also allowed to bring over 4 moderators.
Just to make sure you understand: these guys will be moderator on our servers, but also the Exodus AOW, which is one of the most popular servers these days.
(had 50 people a few days back, which is their max)
These moderators are Sc0p3, F41c0n, Zorid and Shaitan.
They will become full mod.
Want to become a mod there too?
No problem! You just need to show them you are active.
I can put you up for tempmod, or if you are on the servers lots I or any other admin can suggest you for full moderator status.
This will be voted on by all admin, and if the outcome is positive you will get it on a 3 month probation.
Mods over there need to post their bans just like on renz0r.

What have you offered to Exodus and what in return do you get yourself ?
Simple: Mutualism here.
For them:
Our forum users/IRC users/TS users will join up there, and also our servers will run as Exodus, instead of renz0r.
The servers will remain physically the same.
For us: Their forums are much more populated, same as their IRC.
Their TeamSpeak is in my opinion underused, so as soon as the subdomains ts.renz0r.net and ts.renz0r-gaming.com are properly redirected it will be a lot more crowded.
Because that community is so big, it will bring players to our servers.
Also, their current Coop will close, meaning 1 less coop in the rotation.
Those players will go to our coop so + our coop players will bring some new life to Coop.
We will be hosting all our stuff on much better hardware.
Now we have a 2.4 Ghz Quad Core with 2 gigs of memory, running on Windows 2003 (32bit)
The server we get at Exodus (I already have access and am setting up stuff atm) is a lot better:
3 Ghz Xeon Quad Core (12 MB L2 cache buffer!!) with 8 Gigs of memory (!!!) running on Windows 2003 (64 bit!), installed on a 10,000 rpm Hard Drive.
This thing is uber fast.
Also, it will have a much better connection speed compared to our current server.
Try playing on their AOW and see for yourself.
Next to that our monthly costs will be reduced to $105.00 USD!!
This is a lot more appealing than the $170.00 USD we pay now, cause we get something much better.
This Box which we are talking about will be their second server.
Right now, they have 2 Boxes, of which one is the same (holds their AOW) and the other is less good.
The lesser good will be dropped, just like ours.
So the hardware improvement and cost reduce is a mutual interest too.
Also, I offer them my skill in what I can, and Reaver his skill in what he can.
They give us their skill in what they can (there is a lot of coders there)
This will prove very valuable for the both of us in the future.
I am thinking of ranking plugins for DM, working Biatch on all servers etc.
They also are part of the Renegade X team, meaning they will have a server up and running soon.

Last but not least:
Some people have not been keeping track of what happened in n00bstories/ renegade forums.
Basically Exodus is a community that has just started.
It split from n00bstories/renforums not long ago after a big fight in the high command.
Crimson is the owner of both n00bstories and renforums, and it is believed she massively abused her powers (again) and people got fed up with that. If you want to know what shit crimson pulled, read here
Anyhow, Exodus was formed as a result of the power abuse.
Crimson has tried to sabotage their server many times also. You can read about that here
Exodus is a very democratic community.
It is created to bring people a community where no assholes are put into power.
One rule of them I really like: The administrators and Moderators are there to serve the community, not the other way around.
This is something we at renz0r can relate to.
Their views on things are very equal to ours, maybe even the same.
I have been talking with the other admins a lot now, and I can only say they remind me of this place when it was really big about a year back.

Renz0r never dies. As long as I am here, it never dies.
This was just needed because I really couldn't pay the servers anymore.
I am almost flat out broke.
This not only ensures the survival of our mods and team, it also bring a lot of new opportunities to us.
I hope you can agree with me.
We have officially allied with Exodus Gaming.
This will mean we will be linking IRCs.
I encourage you all to play on their AOW server if you feel like AOW.
It's a great server with lots of nice and friendly skilled players, (and the average n00b too, don't worry).
In the near future we hope to be renting a Dedicated server together with them, and will also switch to their TeamSpeak network.
You will hear more about that before it happens.
This will bring a lot more activity to us both.
Maybe we will even fully merge in time.
This site will of course always be here, but renz0r has to think about the future.
And renegade has too many servers as it is.
Uniting is in my view the best answers.
But don't worry; we will always be hosting our mods.
That's one of the things we will do when we go and rent a box together with them.
